A surprise snowfall on the last Saturday in February featured stubborn winter weather that just won't go away. For months we've had grey day after grey day. Blue skies and the greening of things around us can't come soon enough. Speaking of green, I am enjoying Courtenay's freshly painted and reworked Fifth Street Bridge. Both lanes officially opened on February 17, 2022 - just in time for spring. The bridge opening is sure to herald a busier downtown Courtenay. My plan is to get to the Coastal Black Pumpkin Fest in Black Creek this fall. On its 9th year, it's a great event where people may visit the farm until the end of October. It's an opportunity for those who want to be inspired by how to creatively celebrate the local harvest. It's pretty amazing.
